Prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine against Pseudomonas aeruginosa keratitis using bacterial membrane vesicles

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) infection is one of the major causes keratitis. However, effective prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines against P. keratitis have yet to be developed. In this study, we explored use membrane vesicles (MVs) as a vaccine well immune sera derived from MV-immunized animals treatment for corneal infections in C57BL/6 mice. mice were intramuscularly immunized with MVs; mouse corneas then scarified topically infected several strains, followed by determination clinical score bacterial load. Next, ICR administered intraperitoneally naïve mice, topical challenge. Finally, also used established infections. aeruginosa-specific IgG IgA antibodies induced intramuscular immunization detected not only but eye-wash solution. Both active passive significantly inhibited infection. notably decreased can attenuated vaccination MVs application MV-specific sera.
